Welcome to the Turnbull lab website...
I am a neuropsychologist (and a clinical psychologist), with an interest in emotion and its many consequences for mental life. I work on emotion-based learning, a phenomenon that may well be the basis for the experience that we describe as 'intuition' - often assessed using the Iowa Gambling Task.
Extending this theme to the realm of pathology, I work on the role of emotion in false beliefs - especially in neurological patients who have either anosognosia or confabulation.
In part because of my interest in the role of emotion in shaping cognition, I am also interested in the relationship between psychoanalysis and neuroscience . This site has information on my work, including my previous work in visuo-spatial cognition, and has a number of downloadable documents.
