The topic of my PhD is “Emotion Regulation After Brain Injury”, and its central goal is to generate theoretical and empirical bridges between both fields. My main interest is the use of intrinsic and extrinsic types of emotion regulation in patients with brain injury, and how different profiles of cognitive impairment compromise the use of specific emotion regulation strategies.

I began my PhD in 2013 after receiving a scholarship from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. My PhD is supervised by Dr. Manon Jones, and Prof. Oliver Turnbull. I will be investigating the way in which emotions and beliefs are tied to one language or the other in bilinguals. In particular, are bilingual people more likely to believe and invest more emotional value to the topics relevant to one language (Welsh) but not another language (English). I will also study the effects of emotion on people's ability to remember words, and bilingual co-activation of words between their languages.
